Re: Does Magnesium Citrate interfer with Copper Absorption?

Skin Biology ·
Dear Rossana, I see no problem with this. Copper and magnesium have very different binding affinities. There is great confusion about copper in the blood. Ceruloplasmin is an anti-oxidant and often high in diseases. But copper 2+ from the diet is taken up by albumin for transport to the cells. Best wishes, Loren Pickart

Actually Dr. Pickart has stated before: "Don't take copper sulfate - It will damage your GI tract. Stick to the amino acid-copper chelate ...5mg daily which should be OK...Amino acid chelates are much less irritating or can have anti-inflammatory actions." Best Wishes!

Thank you for warning us, I had no idea about the different kinds let alone which would be safe to take. I feel like I get the right amount of copper balanced with the right balance of zinc because I've been taking Dr. Andrew Weil's vitamins for many years and he keeps up with the latest science and changes his formulas accordingly if the need arises to keep it in line with the most up--to-date science. Because I know I'm getting enough I do wonder if I could possibly get too much adding the...

Are there specific brands or formulations you all could recommend? e.g. strictly topical, GHK copper the only ingredient or should I watch out for other ingredients, which brands to avoid, etc. I would like to use GHK copper for my hair and skin, but would it also help internally, if there is a formulation safe for ingestion?

Hi everyone! I live in the UK and have been able to source a 50mg GHK-CU powder vial from a reputable lab. I want to use it topically for skin ageing and, most importantly, on my scalp to help with alopecia. I plan to do microneedling once a month on face and scalp and apply a cream made with the peptide. I only use natural products on my skin so I was thinking of mixing the peptide with my current face cream which is from a 100% natural german brand called weleda. You can see the...

Thank you for posting your question - We are happy to reply back! We are checking with Dr. Pickart to see if there might possibly be any interaction if you plan on adding GHK-Cu to this product. Keep in mind that for a finished product however, Dr. Pickart never suggests to go beyond 3% GHK-Cu as the final concentration. There simply would be no need to and Less is More when dealing with potent cosmeceuticals. Best Wishes, -Skin Biology

You have been so helpful THAN YOU! I’ve tested the PH of the cream and it’s a neutral 5 so I’m hoping that’s all we need to make sure of? I’ve also tested various oils such as jojoba or, even better for hair, castor oil, and they come at a neutral ph as well. Will that be enough to consider them safe for the GHK-Cu? With more research I’ve understood you do need to dilute the pure powder in order to add it in drops to the final medium (cream or oil). Am I correct? Copper toxicity does worry...

Dear SEIHAA : The good news is that copper toxicity shouldn't be a worry at all. Irritation is the main thing to keep in mind when mixing a finished product. Re: GHK & DNA & You

I am sure either Jessica or Dr. Pickart will answer this more fully in the future, but supplementing with copper will not increase GHK in our bloodstream. Supplementing copper is great for health benefits (check out our forum about copper and disease.) but does not affect the amount of GHK Copper in the blood. Although related, those are two separate things. What would be needed is a supplement of GHK Copper. This does not exist at the moment. Dr. Pickart would love to have this be a daily...

US Department of Agriculture studies found the best biochemical anti-oxidants results in humans were with 5 to 6 mgs of supplemental copper daily. More copper will help to some extent. The copper transport molecules are only about 50% loaded with copper in humans and more copper will increase their activity. The Recommended Daily Intake (RDA) of copper is 0.7 mgs daily but this is far too low. A human study found the a group of 24 men on a diet of 1.03 mgs total nutritional copper daily...

GHK-Cu In relation to Wound Healing

skinbiologywebmaster ·
Dr. Pickart had me post this for your reading enjoyment. In 1984, I observed that GHK-Cu possesses a mild antioxidant activity similar to the enzyme superoxide dismutase, which manifests itself as a calming of red and irritated skin. Steve Aust’s lab at Utah State University discovered that GHK-Cu blocks the damage-induced release of oxidizing iron molecules from ferritin. Further discoveries followed. Vinci et al. at the University of Catalina in Italy reported that GHK-Cu blocks tissue...
